Kids “Spark” their creative spirit at Arts Spark Kids Fest 2017

(February 7, 2017 - Boca Raton, FL)    Sugar Sand Park’s 4th annual Arts Spark Kids Fest encourages kids to experience the arts in our community first-hand.  This interactive festival takes place on Sunday, February 19 from 11am-4pm and celebrates the creative, performing and visual arts. Admission is $10 for kids 16 and under, and adults are free with paid child(ren).  This action-packed event offers a multitude of performances, workshops, demonstrations and make & takes.

Local artists, arts organizations and businesses will engage guests at their unique outdoor booths. Highlights include:

  • Pipe Cleaner Creature art project - Boca Raton Museum of Art/Art School
  • Drum circle activities - South Florida Center of Percussive Arts
  • Aerial arts demos and sampler class - Sunshine Circus Arts
  • Live “Brushless” Painting – GOJUArt, Melinda Gallop
  • Eco-friendly dough art with your favorite princesses – Tiaras and Wands Parties
  • Juggle Circle and Balloon Art – Be the Show
  • “Coloring Book Furniture” – artist Jacklyn Laflamme contributes her signature designs, and guests can enter to win a collector’s piece.

Kids will also enjoy giant lego building,  on the spot storytelling, Tae Kwon Do board breaking demos, obstacle course and sports activities, many different crafts, and many more expressive and cultural art activities.  Outdoor booths will be open all day while supplies last.

New to the outdoor stage will be performers Gary Goodman, with his Comedy Magic Shows, and The Flying Wade Henry Show- juggling/unicycling/comedy/audience participation. Wade Henry will also do a strolling performance, and stiltwalkers entertain guests throughout the event.

Over 30 workshops will be indoors. Each 20- to 30-minute workshop takes place inside the Community Center at specified times throughout the day, and will be tailored toward specific age groups, from age 3-16.  Space will be limited. Workshops include:

  • Rock Music (learn a variety of instruments)
  • Hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, acro/tumbling and dance for tots
  • Cheerleading; drawing step by step; theater; storytelling

The event wristband includes admission to all entertainment, exhibitor booths, make & takes, all indoor workshops, and one balloon art creation.  Additional fees apply to value- added activities - face painting, sand art, airbrush tattoos- and food vendors.  Wristbands can be purchased in person, day of event only.
