Admission to the Children’s Science Explorium is free of charge. A suggested donation of $5.00 per person is appreciated.
The cost to ride the Sugar Sand Park Carousel is $1.00 per person.
The Children's Science Explorium is a hands-on science center designed for children 5 – 12 years old, and their caregivers. The Explorium is located in Sugar Sand Park. From rockets to molecules, the museum engages and teaches children about the fantastic world of science!
We offer interactive exhibits, programs, field trips and camps that bring the physical sciences to life. While many of our exhibits are with us on a semi-permanent basis, the Explorium also hosts temporary traveling exhibits.
Sugar Sand Park also features the Science Playground, a Carousel, and the Willow Theater in addition to the Explorium.
The mission of the Children’s Science Explorium is to inspire young learners’ natural curiosity of the physical world through exploration and inquiry. We strive to increase public understanding and interest of science and technology through interactive exhibits and hands-on programs. We encourage family learning and enrichment through community involvement and life-long learning opportunities.
The CSE works to achieve this mission by:
- Providing inquiry-based learning opportunities, where children are encouraged to explore and make their own discoveries.
- Providing fun, interactive and kid-friendly exhibits that relate to every day experiences with the physical sciences.
- Providing a diverse array of programming, including formal school programs, after school, weekend and family programs, camps and special events.
- Providing creative, friendly and knowledgeable staff to share their enthusiasm for science with visitors.
The Children’s Science Explorium is a hands-on science center designed for children ages 5 – 12 and their caregivers. Approximately 4,000 square feet is dedicated to hands-on exhibitry pertaining to the physical sciences. Additional space is devoted to education, including an indoor classroom and several outdoor teaching areas.
Last year, the CSE hosted approximately 5,000 visiting students, enrolled more than 1,900 participants in programming and welcomed over 150,000 individuals through our doors.
Sugar Sand Park is funded by the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District and operated by the City of Boca Raton. This 132-acre park is home to the CSE and continues its commitment to enhance the role of recreation and culture for residents and visitors alike.
Groups, including schools, who visit Sugar Sand Park and the Children’s Science Explorium must be based within the city limits of Boca Raton and/or the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District.
Any family is welcome to visit the Park and Explorium.
